Restored Large Antique Japanese Meiji Period Futon Tansu Merchant’s Chest. Circa 1870. Structurally excellent. Smooth open and close drawers and panel doors. All original Sumikanagu hardware and Hikite drawer pulls. Constructed from Japanese cedar and cypress. All original copper drawer pulls and corner bracing. The top section has 2 sliding panels with rounded horizontal slats which cover a large compartment with a single shelf (removable). The bottom section has eight large size drawers. Drawers and internal back panel of top section lined with traditional Japanese paper. Lovely distressed features. Dimensions (mm) 1895W x 1370H x 515D.
