This beautifully restored Victorian cedar chest combines exceptional craftsmanship, timeless character and practical storage. Constructed from solid Australian cedar, it has been carefully restored and finished by hand with traditional French polish. The chest features five fully restored, hand-dovetailed drawers and richly figured natural timber, making it a distinguished and functional addition to any interior.

Restoration and Condition

The original cedar-plank sides, top and drawer fronts are in excellent condition, with no significant dents. The exterior cedar surfaces were completely stripped back and hand French-polished.

The crack in the left side panel, caused by natural timber shrinkage over time, has been professionally repaired using a high-strength compound. The repair was then filled, colour-matched and finished to blend with the surrounding timber.

All five drawers have been re-nailed and their bases refitted to restore strength, close gaps and eliminate rattling. They sit straight and flush and operate perfectly on their new runners. The original drawer rails have also been reglued and re-screwed where required.

This beautifully restored Victorian cedar chest offers excellent structural integrity, striking timber figuring and substantial practical storage, while retaining the character and craftsmanship of its era.
