Restoration and condition
The mahogany plank sides, top and drawer fronts are in very good cosmetic condition, with some distressed elements that contribute to the piece’s period character. All five drawer bases have been refitted, reglued and re-nailed. New hardwood runners have been installed on selected drawers; the remaining drawers retain their original runners, which show negligible wear. All drawers sit straight and flush and operate smoothly.
New overlays have been installed on every drawer rail except one, where they were not required. The rails have also been re-glued and secured where necessary. Overall, this is a well-crafted antique with an attractive patina and excellent period character.
