Condition and restoration: The external Cedar surfaces, including the plank top, sides and drawer fronts, are in excellent cosmetic condition and free from cracks and significant dents. All seven drawers have been re-nailed and re-glued, with their bases removed and refitted and new timber cross-members installed beneath them for added strength.
Each drawer sits straight and flush and operates smoothly. The original drawer guides and rails remain in good condition with minimal wear, with selected components newly replaced. The remaining original rails have been re-glued and re-screwed where required, preserving the chest’s character while ensuring reliable use.
