A9100 - Restored Early Victorian Light Tone Mahogany Chest. Circa 1860 Comprehensively restored and fitted with all new hardwood drawer runners, this rare and unique example from the early Victorian era boasts.

Another fine example brought back to life by the team at MRBEAMS.COM.AU. The five extra large drawers have been completely rebuilt, re-glued, and renailed. They are strong and sturdy with new timber crossmembers installed to the underside of the drawers to provide added strength and load bearing capacity to the original bases (nails and industrial strength glue used). There are more than double the usual amount of dovetails in the joins and all open and close like new. The internal drawer rails and guides show minimal signs of wear and have also been reglued and re-nailed. The external Mahogany surfaces have lovely distressed features and patina. The crack to the right side has been rejoined with high-strength compound before being filled, colour matched and French polished. The original backboards are in good order and all have been renailed (50mm nails to bite deep). This is an extremely heavy chest for its size (even with the drawers removed) and will require at least two people to carry it.
