Restoration and condition: The five extra-large drawers have been completely rebuilt, re-glued and re-nailed. New timber cross-members have been installed beneath the drawers to provide additional strength and load-bearing capacity, while the original bases have been refitted. The drawers feature more than twice the usual number of dovetails and now open and close smoothly.
The internal rails and guides show minimal wear and have been re-glued and re-nailed where required. The external Mahogany surfaces retain beautiful distressed details and natural patina. A crack to the right side has been rejoined with high-strength compound, filled, colour-matched and French-polished. The original back-boards remain in good order and have been re-nailed with deep-biting 50 mm nails.
Please note: This is an exceptionally heavy chest for its size, even with the drawers removed, and will require at least two people for removal and transport.
