A9097- Restored Large Mahogany Five Drawer Victorian Dresser. Circa 1880. Comprehensively overhauled, fitted with all new hardwood drawer runners and hand French polished, this larger than standard, solidly built old gem boasts.
Solid Mahogany and Mahogany veneer construction
Traditional polished finish (Shellac and beeswax).
Five structurally perfect and seamlessly functional hand dovetailed drawers.
Very clean inside drawers.
Original and ornate turned Mahogany handles in pristine condition.
Original twin pin brass locks and brass escutcheon/keyholes.
Lockable with key included.
New hardwood drawer runners (All drawers).
New replacement drawer stops (where required).
Original bun feet fitted with commercial grade anti-scratch pads.
Natural patina retained.
All original drawer shelves in place (to minimise dust falling into drawers below).
Another great example from the late Victorian era. The original internal drawer rails and guides are in very good order and have been re-blocked, re-nailed and re-glued where required. All five drawers are structurally excellent, have been reglued where required and had their bases removed and refitted to close up gaps. New timber crossmembers installed to the underside of the lower drawers to provide additional strength to the drawer bases. All sit straight and flush and function as new. The external plank top, sides and drawer fronts are in lovely condition with no significant cracks or dents (Note: the hairline crack to the right side of the first long drawer is cosmetic only, a crack to the thin Mahogany veneer. There is no crack in the actual drawer front). The original backboards are sound and have been re-nailed where needed.
