A9045 - Restored Late Georgian Mahogany Five Drawer Dresser. Circa 1837. Shipped from Europe to Canada in the early 1900s, this lovely old gem has now found its way to Australia. Now complete with all new hardwood drawer runners it features.
- Solid Mahogany and Mahogany veneer construction.
- Traditional shellac French polish finished with beeswax.
- Five structurally excellent and seamlessly functioning hand dovetailed drawers.
- Spotlessly clean internal drawer surfaces..
- Original 10 mm thick, load bearing solid Mahogany drawer bases (realigned and renailed).
- Original turned Mahogany.
- All drawer locks (top two drawers have been neutered - no functional).
- Original brass keyholes (no key included).
- New hardwood runners to all drawers.
- New hardwood drawer stops.
- Distressed features and patina.
- Anti-scratch pads fitted to feet.
Another rare set of drawers from the Georgian period, now well equipped for the modern era. The original internal drawer rails (recessed inside the sides planks of the chest) have been removed, reinstated with high strength glue and fresh screws. All drawers have been realigned, reglued where required, renailed and fitted with new oak drawer runners. The locks in the top two small drawers have been removed and replaced with Mahogany from the same era as the chest (Sourced from our collection of salvaged antique timbers). Any hairline cracks to the drawer fronts have been reapired with expoxy before being secretly nailed. Original backboards all in place.
