A9034 – Restored Victorian Cedar Seven-Drawer Chest, c. 1900

Beautifully restored and fitted with new drawer runners, this striking Victorian Cedar chest combines exceptional original character with excellent structural integrity and reliable everyday functionality.

Restoration and condition: This is a very sound piece of furniture, well suited to everyday use. The external Cedar surfaces are in exceptional original condition, with no stains or significant dents. All drawers have been re-nailed and re-glued where necessary, remain structurally solid and sit straight and flush. A divider has been installed in the middle large drawer.

New runners have been fitted to all drawers except the central top-hat drawer and two small upper-right drawers, whose original runners show minimal wear. The bottom drawer has been fitted with a new Cedar base to match the original construction. All original back-boards remain in good order.

Note: Further adjustments were made to the runners on the large drawer second from the bottom after the photographs were taken. This drawer now sits completely flush against the front of the chest.
