A9015 - Serpentine Barley Twist Pillar Victorian Cedar Chest. Circa 1860.
Completely restored, hand French polished and finished with beeswax, this immaculate example from the Victorian era boasts;
- Solid Red Cedar construction.
- Seven structurally excellent, perfectly functioning hand-dovetailed drawers
- Ornate barley twist side pillars.
- Original brass drawer locks and keyholes.
- New hardwood drawer runners.
- Replacement draw stops to all cavities (rear and front).
- Lovely woodgrain features.
- Original turned Cedar handles complete with Cedar screws.
- Turned Cedar feet.
A truely magnificent example in remarkable condition for its age. The original drawer runners and internal rails show barely any signs of wear (only new runners required for a few of the drawers). All seven are sructurally flawless (rebuilt, reglued and renailed), sit straight and flush, spotlessly clean inside, and function as new (exceptionally smooth and quiet). The external Cedar top, sides and drawer fronts have no signicant imperfections to report. Makers mark/stamp to backboards. The original backboards are in great order also. One of the finest examples we have worked on.
