Exquisite Victorian Flame Mahogany Seven Drawer Chest. Circa 1870. Restored and French polished this immaculate example boasts;
- Traditional high gloss shellac finish.
- Seven smooth functioning hand-dovetailed drawers
- Turned Mahogany side pillars.
- Original handles and brass keyholes.
- Striking flame Mahogany veneer drawer fronts.
- Lockable secret compartment in central top hat drawer (no key included)
- Decorative bulbous feet.
Without question one of the finest examples in Australia. There are no pre-existing repairs or fillings to the external surfaces. All original veneer and drawer cock-beading intact and in excellent condition (There is a small amount of bubbling to the veneer on the bottom drawer and also a 5 cent piece size section to the very bottom right side of the chest). All seven drawers function nicely and sit straight and flush. Cosmetically outstanding with no significant dents or marks to the external surfaces. Internal jewellery safe to rear of top drawer (last image). The original back-boarding is in perfect condition also.
